In this rare case, found during routine dissection of head and neck in North Bengal Medical College on the right side of the neck, common carotid artery bifurcated at a higher level than usual and 1.25 cm below the bifurcation, gave a common origin of lingual and superior thyroid artery from its medial side (thyorolingual trunk). No such anomaly was noted on the left side. This type of combination of variations has important clinical implications.
