From pedagogy to the politics of Body Education?
Abstract
What is an epistemological break? What are the implications in research methodology and body education? Changing from the pedagogical and didactic bias that Physical Education used to be thought with to a political one implies interpreting body practices outside the what should-be. Then, what are the senses and logic that these acquire? How are body practices understood? What happens with the universal place, the concepts of awareness and knowledge, with man? The ideas of practices, epistemology and politics allowed changing the interpretation according to the research carried out by the Research Group on Body Practices. How are these ideas understood by a view of Body Education that implies a different approach on the use of the body? Finally, it is worth asking if these ideas modify the order of discourse, in Foucault’s sense, on the will to know and, as consequence, on the methodological perspective
