El turismo orientado a los pobres: una alternativa estratégica para los países en desarrollo

Abstract

Initiatives related to Pro Poor Tourism movement have been developed during more than a decade in different regions of the world. Millions of poor people live in places which are potentially destinations and tourism is considered a relevant factor to increase the economy of the development countries. This movement involves that new destinations be planned to increase their contributions to the social environment, promoting the sustainable development and in this way eradicate poverty. Trough analysis of interventions in different regions, there were identified key aspects to obtain benefits for poor communities and strategies which help to strengthen subsistence, creation of new jobs and opportunities for the micro business development.
