The creation of European Union has changed the relationship of the existing force all over theworld, causing a redistribution of the power and influence. During the Cold War, the European Communitywill be the main ally of the United States of America in its confrontation with the USSR. After the fall of theBerlin Wall and of the Soviet Union, the European Union ceased to be the disciplined follower of the U.S. inthe international politics, assuming its own role in this direction. It will reasonably claim to have a major rolein determining the European policy and to follow its own path in solving vital issues of the contemporaryworld. It will offer many times, the optimal alternative to solutions forwarded by the main representatives ofthe international political life; when they will undoubtedly follow their own particular interests, it will be animportant counterweight to the hegemonic tendencies of the United States. It currently works as a balancefactor in confronting various geopolitical tendencies and in imposing law and morality principles in theinternational political life.
