A comparative analysis of two didactic resources may shed light on the difference of status taken by the theatrical play as an object, within the realm of professional training in scenic arts: the traits and text of dramatic works belonging to the universal repertoire, and the creation and composition inside the tradition of gestural theater. A clinic approach towards the didactic transactions present within these two different resources shows that it is the performance nature of a play which, in scenic arts, demands a specific sort of work and appropriation on the part of the performers/students. So, we have analyzed: a) The particular means of transmission of each play, both as a cultural pre-construct and as a function of the two large types already described; b) The processes of mediation carried out by the teachers in function of their own particularities, and finally, the particular ways taken by the students in order to appropriate concepts and practices.
