This paper delves into the transformative role of nanotechnology in food packaging, focusing on biosensors and nanocomposites. It highlights their potential to enhance food safety by detecting microbial contaminants and improving nutrient retention, offering a sustainable alternative to conventional packaging materials with their biodegradability. Despite facing challenges such as biosensor limitations and nanoparticle migration, the paper proposes an innovative integration of indicators within packaging systems and possible methods to address challenges to advance intelligent food packaging.
