The Building of I. P. Mikhailovsky Institution for Electro-Photo-Hydro-Mud Therapy

Abstract

Using the example of one of the monuments of architecture in Irkutsk, the article reviews the impact of the common paradigm of the modern style of the early XXth century on the creative work of a certain author, as well as borrowing, use and interpretation of techniques and methods of the style in the context of provincial design and building. The article analyses the composition of the main façade. It reveals the impact of St. Petersburg modern and provides the local and the capital equivalents. It assesses a historical and cultural value of the site. It is supposed that the authorship of the project belongs to Irkutsk architect V. Kolyanovsky.
