A History to English View: Reviewing the role of language and its power in the global context
Abstract
The current trial aims on doing a historical recovery about the role played by the English Language nowadays. Data brought by Crystal (2011) confirmed that there are currently more non-native speakers communicating through English than the native speakers themselves. That makes it a language of global reach. But what does it make a language a global language? Is it its grammar structure? The number of people that express through it? As such, through a bibliographical review of its role played nowadays, it had been outlined a historical context in which English is related to a political and military empowerment linked to this language.
