La conservation des zones maraîchères de proximité, moteur de l’émergence de politiques spécifiquement périurbaines dans la Région métropolitaine de Buenos Aires ?
Abstract
Gardening zones in Buenos Aires occupy almost 13.400 hectares on 1500 farms, implicating 3500 families, mostly Bolivian, providing between 60 and 90% of vegetables consumed by the inhabitants of the metropolis. This paper aims at developing a transversal North / South examination of the issues of urban and periurban agriculture. It tries to show the evolution from a forgotten space to a strategic space since the years 2000, both for the food and agriculture question and the issue of the integration of migrants. If initiatives remain limited, they are an invitation to re-think the role of social issues in the emergence and consolidation of agricultural perirurban spaces.
