De la gated community au lotissement géant mexicain, une version bon marché de la fermeture résidentielle
Abstract
How is the United States' enclosed urbanization model diffused to Latin America? The 1970s saw the first enclosed residential communities, built for the upper middle-class. These structures then became more widely accessible in the 1990s: which is when in Mexico City, a new type of housing started to appear, made of large, cheap constructions, based on altered patterns of enclosure. Through the analysis of the practices put together by this population to come to terms with residential enclosure, with lower income and a different cultural perspective than that initially targeted by this model, our paper will look for the implications of a revised concept.
