In the design of wireless communications systems, channel modelling is an efficient alternative to predict the path loss. In this paper we present a comparative study between Okumura, Hata, Walfisch-Bertoni and Walfisch-Ikegami propagation models. We present a developed software tool, which is useful to evaluate these models from a graphical user interface. The main objective is to analyze and compare path loss predictions, taking into account different environment conditions and a common validity range. The results show the good match between empirical and semiempirical models when there is correspondence between the environment type and the assumed parameter value. Walfisch-Bertoni and Walfisch-Ikegami models predict the results closer to experimental measurements.
