The Author proposes to analyze the incidence of electronic communication tools in the context of labor relations, in particular examining the impact on the extinction phase of the employment relationship. After a review of the jurisprudence that evaluated the suitability of sms, e-mails and WhatsApp to supplement the requirement of the written form of dismissal, as required by art. 2, co. 1, 1. 604/1966, the contribution deals with limits of such applications, as regards the absence of autographed subscription and the main criticalities that the short message system and twitter present above the obligation to motivation. The last focus is about on issues that are not yet subject to litigation, in order to evaluate its potential for the prerogatives that the law intended to preserve by introducing the obligation of written form in the dismissal.
