SWIF: Smart Wi-Fi Integration Framework for Mobility and Resource Optimization

The demand for efficient Wi-Fi solutions in indoor environments is increasingly challenged by signal degradation and connectivity issues, especially as user mobility intensifies. Traditional user-access point (AP) association strategies often result in inefficient resource use and network underperformance, struggling to adapt to the complex and dynamic nature of indoor spaces with mobile users. To address these challenges, we introduce Smart Wi-Fi Integration Framework (SWIF), a novel solution that employs network virtualization through Software-Defined Networking (SDN). SWIF distinguishes itself by incorporating a robust set of metrics—Mean Received Signal Strength Indicator (RSSI), AP workload, and Channel Utilization Level—to optimize user association with APs and dynamically allocate communication channels in real-time. This SDN-driven approach enables intelligent network management and adaptive resource distribution, setting a new standard for efficient indoor wireless operations. By continuously adjusting to real-time conditions and user mobility, SWIF overcomes the limitations of conventional methods, delivering sustainable performance gains. Experimental results show that SWIF achieves a 22% improvement in aggregate network capacity and significantly enhances user experience fairness through a more balanced resource distribution.
