PECULIARITIES OF GENDER DISCRIMINATION IN PRESENT-DAY DEVELOPMENT OF UKRAINE AND THE WORLD

Abstract

The article deals with the features of gender discrimination in modern conditions of the development of Ukraine and the world. For this purpose, the article explores the main aspects of gender inequality in the world to identify the main trends in the development of this problem. Gender inequality in Ukraine and in the world using the third billion index is analyzed. This makes possible to assess the level of efficiency of women's empowerment in the economy. An assessment of the development of Ukraine and certain countries of the world according to gender gap index, as well as individual components of the index, such as the participation in economic activities and career opportunities, education, health and survival, political rights and opportunities, is made. As a result of the study, the following conclusions are made. At the world level, measures to overcome gender inequality, including: discrimination overcoming, labour equality, elimination of all forms of violence, participation in decision-making in all spheres of public life, are actively being developed. Ukraine still has problems concerning gender equality, but active implementation of world and European standards for the elimination of gender discrimination allows to gradually overcome this problem.
