This is an article based on research carried out at the Laboratory of Front Poetics (http://labfront.tk), research, development, and innovation group (CNPq/UEMG). In it, we analyze the case of the fire in the National Museum of Rio de Janeiro, which belongs to the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), considered the biggest loss of historical and cultural heritage in Brazil to this day. Our objective is to discuss the idea of “contemporary” based on the thought of Giorgio Agamben (2009) and the relationship that we can establish between this notion and the burning museum.
