Abstract

The article deals with historiography and research sources of the pheno menon of Jewish rescuers during the Holocaust — Righteous among the Nations. The author shows the difference between Jewish rescue circumstances in Western, Central Europe and on the Nazi-occupied territory of Ukraine. The article analyzes Yad Vashem data on Righteous among the Nations according to regions of Ukraine, background of the appropriate rescue cases distribution and categories of people who resisted the Nazi «final solution to the Jewish question». The author gives examples of Jewish rescuers’ heroism and pays special attention to Metropolitan Andrey Sheptytsky.
