Differences between the historical and the literary discourse have stirred great controversy, with each discipline emphasizing these distinctions from their own perspective. However, recent attempts have been made –particularly from the Philosophy of History–to direct attention to the areas of intersection between these two discourses. In line with this perspective, I present here a proposal to analyze the dialogue between the literary and the historical discourse in Hernán Lara Zavala’s novel Península, península (2008). I claim that these two discourses converge in the same discursive space; furthermore, I also claim that they complement each other in the construction of a new story, a story emblematic or meaningful as a cache of historical memory.
