Abstract: Human life always involves misunderstanding generated by the defense of personal and selfish interests. In literature, it's part of the objectives of critics and writers to handle the question of Violence in general and that of War in particular in order to offer some outcomings in the search of a durable peaceful life. This work is an exploration of ‘'The Great Ponds'' written by the Nigerian novelist and critics, Elechi Amadi. The article focuses on how the author describes tribal war and its aftermath. It gives the traditional background of the two villages in conflict and the way the war affects their lives during and after the hostilities. The article finally points out the role played by the environing villages as contribution to end the fight. Keywords: hostilities, human life, interests, violence, war
