The Impact Of Socio-Economic Factors On Housing Transformation In Djelfa, Algeria
Abstract
Abstract: The focus on the phenomenon of housing transformations has enabled us to understand some practices and interventions through which people have attempted to meet their desires and needs regarding their residences, particularly on the social and economic aspects of the family. The field study was conducted in the city of Djelfa, located 300 kilometers south of the Algerian capital. A survey study was carried out, including 80 residences of both traditional and modern styles, which underwent various interventions at the morphological level. The obtained results indicate that the social factors, represented by the variable of family size, and the economic factor, represented by the variable of monthly income, are considered fundamental drivers and important motivations for residents to initiate morphological changes and transformations. Keywords: Djelfa, Morphological transformation, Individual housing, Commercial residential use.
