Abstract

Alain Boggero, a former carpenter and sheet metal worker in the shipyards of La Seyne-sur-Mer, who was laid off in the mid-1980s, never stopped painting a world that has now disappeared, after studying at the Beaux-Arts in Toulon. Created on the most eclectic supports and using various materials, for the sake of economy as much as for the painter’s politic involvement, the work nonetheless has a great coherence and unity that gives it its strength: as a transmitter of memory, Alain Boggero never stopped bringing back to life - or saving from oblivion - these thousands of workers who gave their lives to work, notably the one exposed to asbestos.
