La storia comparata dell’uso e delle conseguenze dell’amianto nei più importanti cantieri navali italiani dell’alto Adriatico nei “lunghi anni Settanta”
Abstract
The study focuses on shipyards in north-east Italy (Trieste, Monfalcone, Venice are the interested areas) giving a tough view of the working conditions in the shipbuilding industry. This aspect is referred both to work-related injuries and occupational illness. The asbestos related are the most pernicious diseases: the “asbestos emergency”, due to its increasing epidemiology, is the worst tragedy in work illness history. The comparison among different shipyards in north-east Italy is focused on how the “asbestos risk” was managed during the “long-lasting Seventies”, a decade of deep transformations and crucial achievements in occupational safety.
