Introduction and objective Chronic pelvic pain syndrome in males is among the diagnostic and therapeutic challenges. In view of the difficulties in determination of the cause of this syndrome, the pharmacological treatment and physiotherapy management focus on alleviation of the symptoms. The aim of the study was description of physiotherapy treatment options in chronic pelvic pain syndrome therapy in the male population. Brief description of the state of knowledge Chronic pelvic pain syndrome in males is diagnosed based on the differential diagnostics of other diseases related to urinary tract infections, tumours in the pelvis area and spinal cord injuries. Due to the lack of well recognized etiology, the treatment consists in the alleviation of the occurring symptoms. Pharmacotherapy focuses mainly on analgesic and anti-inflammatory treatment. Physiotherapy is one of the conservative treatment options in therapy of the chronic pelvic pain syndrome in males, and is aimed at regulation of tension in the pelvic floor muscles and lumbopelvic hip complex, elimination of the myofascial trigger points, as well as therapy of spinal and peripheral joints in the pelvis area. For this purpose, physiotherapy techniques in the field of physical therapy, manual therapy, soft tissues techniques and patient education are used. Conclusions Physiotherapy for chronic pelvic pain syndrome in males is a non-pharmacological treatment option, commonly described in current literature. However, due to the lack of high-quality evidence, continuation of search in this area is necessar y.
