Rasgos del discurso televisivo mexicano sobre la violencia y el narcotráfico
Abstract
This paper presents some features of the informative discourse on violence, drug trafficking and insecurity in Mexican television, particularly in the news programs of the two main private television networks. First, we characterize the features of the information on violence as a network of different discourses; one of the uses of information is exemplified through the construction of fiction series where some aspects related to the problem of violence are melodramatized. We present some components in the audiovisual construction of crimes and criminals in news stories, particularly what we call "semiotics of the face" and the use of closeups. Finally, we mention some features of the treatment of authority in these news and reports.
