Characterization of the suicide trial in a colombian city (2012 – 2017)
Abstract
This is a descriptive study whose objective was to analyze the characteristics related to the suicidal behavior of those who were reported by this event in Tunja during the period between 2012 and 2017; from 701 notification cards of attempted suicide of the national public health surveillance system (SIVIGILA); the results from the statistical program SPSS, version 22, indicate that 51.5% were between 16 and 25 years of age, 53% of females and 31% with agricultural occupations; in terms of the characteristics of the suicide attempt, a greater proportion is identified as a result of partner problems (39.9%); the method most used poisoning (62.4%) and with at least one diagnosis of mental disorder in 37% of registered cases. It is concluded that the suicide attempts were mostly in the young population, with slightly higher figures for the female sex, predominance of the urban area and place of the housing event, being the occupations related to the field those that presented the highest occurrence, corroborating the information obtained at the national level, with the exception of gender.
