San Esteban de Ribas de Sil in the origen of current restoration in Galicia. Polemic and restoration.
Abstract
An analysis of the events concerning the preservation of our heritage in the eighties in Spain is more and more necessary in order to understand the keys that define restoration today. Concha Fontenla explains in this article how the restoration of San Esteban de Ribas de Sil marked a before and after in the rehabilitation of historic heritage in Galicia. The polemic surrounding these works, according to the author, triggered theoretical discourse and brought about greater rigour in the approach and stance of architects.
