Family farm in Brazil, concept in construction: trajectory struggle path, mighty history
Abstract
Having the family farm a high importance in the Brazilian agricultural context, it is beneficial to review and discussion the history and the concept of family farming. From the first agricultural activities in colonial Brazil, there has been the presence of family farms, and through the centuries it has transformed, without losing its main characteristic of food production for family subsistence. Lately, the Brazilian State, which historically had left the family farm in the background, is what it in scrict area of access to public policies, as a result of its contest and its social, economic, environmental and productive importance for the country.
