Cartographie du Marseille d’un héros de roman policier (Total Khéops de J.-C. Izzo)
Abstract
This cartographical essay on the spatial practices of a fictional city-dweller is part of a geo-literary analysis of the novel Total Khéops by J.-C. Izzo. In this novel, the map is considered an analytical tool and a way to visualise certain aspects of the character’s spatial experience. In addition to the problems that arise from the translation of textual writing to a map, a central issue seems to be the treatment of spatial information scattered throughout the story, on which a geographical logic is superimposed by a map. Even more problematic is the representation of urban atmospheres using conventional cartography.
