Intangible cultural heritage studies show the policies’ inefficiency for their management. Myths are the less treated among them. This article sets the theoretical and methodological foundations for their study and preservation as a part in cultural policies. Their validation from the analysis of “Los Demonios del Boquerón”, allow us to explain the pattern in which patrimonial speech is continuously contextualize time and time again. The traditional view of myth as archaic culture residue is exceeded and placed as an active part of the heritage complex of the territories and identity of nations. The results allow study as a cultural resource that guarantees its sustainability as a legacy for future generations.
