One hundred and twenty four F4 families of a cross E8 x Tamil Nadu Local were evaluated to study theinterrelationship between yield and yield attributing characters using correlation coefficients and contributions ofyield related traits to seed yield through path coefficient analysis. Days to 50% flowering, days to maturity, plantheight, number of branches per plant, number of capsules per plant, capsule length and number of seeds per capsulehad positive and significant association with seed yield per plant. The magnitude of correlation was highest in caseof number of capsules per plant (r=0.932) with seed yield per plant. Number of capsules per plant had highestpositive direct effect (0.9525) followed by equal contribution by number of seeds per capsule (0.1826) and 1000seed weight (0.1821). Selection for capsules per plant shall improve seed yield in sesame.
