Economic indicators of the cultivation of young-of-the-year pikeperch (Sander lucioperca) in tanks
Abstract
Abstract. In recent years, there has been a steady increase in demand in pikeperch cultivation in aquaculture in the European countries, as its meat belongs to dietary products and is a source of complete protein. The cost of pikeperch cultivation in aquaculture largely depend on the method of feeding aimed at reducing the mortality of juveniles of this species and rationalizing economic costs. The study was focused on the factors of the formation of profit as a result of cultivating a new pikeperch Sander lucioperca (Linnaeus, 1758) generation. We determined the economic feasibility of growing young-of-the-year pikeperch in conditions of tank technology using different stocking densities and feeding schemes. The presented estimations were carried out according to the generally accepted methods in economics. The materials for the study were economic indicators obtained during the cultivation of young-of-the-year (0+) pikeperch grown in industrial conditions. The cultivation was carried out in practically the same production conditions; therefore, the cost of cultivation was characterized by practically the same expenses for each group of obtained young-of-the-year fish. The differences in expenses were the costs of fish seeds, feeds, and treatment measures. The largest share in the structure of costs (33.3‒41.6%) was the cost of purchasing artificial feeds. The second indicator was the costs for the purchase of fish seeds (22.9‒28.6%). The actual indicators of economic activity of the cultivation of young pikeperch were used for the analysis of economic efficiency, taking into account the current market price for fish seeds. The highest conditional profit value (20,287 UAH) was achieved at the stocking density of 80,000 fish, which ensures the production of young-of-the-year fish, 1 kg of which, depending on the initial stocking density, cost 107 to 113 UAH, allowing for a profit from 8.8 to 20.3 thousand UAH and, accordingly, to achieve 21.3% to 30.5% level of profitability.
