The present article is aimed at reflecting on pseudohistorical digital games that merge moe anthropomorphism and gacha mechanics. Such widespread games provide their large communities of fans with imaginaries that tend to fetishize the past: by analysing them, we may frame processes of commodification of the past towards widely diffused collection game mechanics. On the one hand, these games may favour the engagement with, and study of, the past and history. On the other hand, however, they may imply the risk of ‘consuming’ history – and such consumption cannot but be influenced by the sub-cultures towards which these games are produced, and within which they circulate.
