This text offers an analysis of the graphic series Walking Dead in terms of its relationship with death. The aim is to understand the zombie genre of which it is part and the originality that has made these comics a success. Particular attention is paid to the graphic style and artistic forms that punctuate the narration, such as the spectacle of corpses, zombie postcards, the landscape of the living dead and scenes of terror. Through the fictional choices of scriptwriter Robert Kirkma, a philosophy emerges from this expansive graphic novel—that of a memento mori anchored in the regular loss of heroes who have reverted to being mortal, impotent, cowardly and sadistic. How can ethics be maintained when the dead invade all living space?
