Materializando regímenes de verdad: de las Comisiones de la Verdad a la gestión de los Espacios de Memoria en América del Sur
Abstract
This article studies five sites of memory located in Chile, Argentina, Uruguay, and Colombia to understand the way in which they have been created and how discourses about the recent past materialize based on established truth narratives. Through documentary research, the legal nature and regulatory frameworks used by the sites to guarantee their work are analyzed; relations with authorities, victims' organizations, civil society institutions, academia and the national and international links that they support. We conclude with a reflection on how these sites of memory show the institutional, cultural, and political encounters and disagreements between the government and the citizens after narratives of the truth commissions have been built.
