Desmoplastic fibroma of the jaws: Case report
Abstract
Desmoplastic fibroma (DF) is a rare, benign yet locally aggressive tumor of the bone. It traditionally presents as an intra-osseous lesion with a high recurrence rate and infiltrative growth pattern, affecting the mandible, long bones, and pelvis. We present a rare occurrence of DF in the maxilla, managed successfully under our care, and followed up uneventfully for three years. Treatment efficiency relies on wide local excision with an adequate safety margin to avoid recurrence.
