DISTRIBUTION OF HOOF ARTERIAL BLOOD VESSELS IN BOSNIAN MOUNTAIN HORSE
Abstract
Casting method was conducted by injecting the Vinilyth mass into the digital blood vessels of 36 fore and hind limbs of the Bosnian Mountain Horse of both genders, aged from 5 to 7 years. Corrosive casts provided a precise estimation of position and branching characteristics of the arterial blood vessels in the hoof of the Bosnian Mountain Horse. By comparison of our results with the previous literature findings we found certain differences in branching of the digital arteries. So, we found differences in branching of the rami dorsales phalangis I, a. tori digitalis and a. dorsalis phalangis II. Last observed difference, according to our research, was that we did not demonstrate the existence of the a. dorsalis phalangis III. These findings may provide better understanding of the diseases, prognoses and treatment of the horse hoof disorders. Undoubtedly, these findings may have a practical importance in equine orthopedics.Key words: artery, hoof, horse
