The field experiment was carried out between 1996 and 1998 at the Experimental Station of Tobacco Cultivation in Zamość, Poland. The cultivar Wilga, type Virginia was chosen for testing. The treatments were four amounts of multinutrient fertilizer Luboplon T, control, 400, 600 and 900 kg ha-1, which contained 5.0% N, 4.4% P, 16.6% K, 7.0% MgO and 14.0% CaO. In the experiment the highest yield of leaves was obtained after using 900 kg ha-1 of Luboplon T 2.78 t ha-1, while control objects yielded about 2.35 t ha-1; however, the quality of the leaves measured by the share of light grades was the worst here. Besides, the rise of nicotine and protein content as well as the decrease in carbohydrates content was observed in the leaves of fertilized plants but these changes were not significant. A relatively high yield of leaves 2.49 t ha-1 was obtained by fertilizing tobacco with the lowest doses 400 kg ha-1 of multinutrient fertilizer. While applying this level of fertilization the quality of leaves measured by the share of light grades as well as chemical properties of the material was good. Using the dose of 400 kg of this fertilizer was brought in the soil per ha: 20.0 kg N, 17.5 kg P, 66.4 kg K, 16.9 kg Mg and 40.0 kg Ca. These rates can be then treated as optimum.
