The winding process is a crucial step in roll-to-roll systems used across various industries like printing, packaging, and converting. At the rewinding process, the accurate determination of the appropriate tension during the rewinding stage assumes paramount importance as it enables the prediction and prevention of such defects. To address this critical concern, the development of an automated film roll cutter is undertaken, incorporating advanced three-dimensional (3D) modeling techniques. These techniques facilitate the design and visualization of the cutter, enabling iterative refinements and optimizations. Furthermore, comprehensive structural and thermal analysis is conducted to ensure that the cutter possesses the requisite durability, strength, and reliability to operate seamlessly within real-world manufacturing environments. This research endeavors to present a practical and effective solution that specifically addresses the challenges encountered in film roll production.
