The development of school research in astronomy using the computer and the internet: an experience in basic education seeking the meaningful learning

Abstract

The computer and the internet are information and communication technologies, used to develop, for example, schoolar research works. Thus, it was questioned: how to promote a meaningful learning processes in this perspective? In order to answer this question, the objective was to promote the development of research projects of astronomy concepts, using the computer and the internet, in a class of 9th grade of a public school in Guarapuava/PR city. The students were divided in groups, each one tasked to research in the web about an astronomy theme. Then, the students systematized their conclusions in a text document, which served as an analysis' instrument of this research. It was notted some concepts and information consistent with scientific proposed, showing critical positioning and reflection; also, some conceptual relations with the daily life were made, and it was noticed motivation with the use of the computer and the internet in school activities. Therefore, this research used the potential of the computer and the internet to mediate meaningful learning processes.
