HIGH AND VERY HIGH AVALANCHE RISK DURING 2012-2013 WINTER SEASON, IN THE MOUNTAIN AREA COVERED BY NIVOLOGICAL PROGRAM
Abstract
The paper presents and analyze snow and meteorological conditions of 2012-2013 winter, which led to the estimation of high and very high avalanche risk in Bucegi and Făgăraş Mountains, the two areas covered by nivological program of the Romanian National Meteorological Administration. The avalanche risk was estimated according to the European scale of avalanche risk, in daily bulletins. Daily observations and weekly snow measurements were used, from Vârful Omu (2504 m), Sinaia (1500 m), Predeal (1100m) and Bâlea-Lac (2055m) weather stations.
