The work in the waiting room as a clinical device: structure and function in the process of reception in a teaching clinic
Abstract
To do something with the time and space in a waiting context has been presenting itself, in many areas and work fields, as an important movement in health care. This article presents a clinical device of work in a waiting room, developed in the process of reception and beginning of treatment in a teaching clinic, named “initial interviews”. Its structure and function are presented through the conceptual field of psychoanalysis, highlighting its role in the reception of the patients and development of transference, in the collective construction of the clinical case, and in the formation of the practitioners involved
