Letermovir salvage therapy in the management of a case of cytomegalovirus ventriculitis complicated by drug resistance
Abstract
Reported is a case of cytomegalovirus ventriculitis on a background of HIV infection. Sequencing demonstrated viral mutations conferring resistance to available therapies. Compassionate use of letermovir was attempted; though clinical improvement was observed the patient passed away. Sequencing demonstrated that known letermovir resistance mutations were not detected in this virus.
