On February 24, 2022, Russia, led by Putin, destroyed the European world peace by a military attack on Ukraine under the pretext that Ukraine poses a constant threat to Russia, hindering the development of Russia and its existence. The Russian invasion of Ukraine, which for Putin is a fiction “about a special military operation”, has greatly affected energy security around the world and provoked uncertainty in the field of energy policy both in Europe and in the world. The authors of this paper do not intend to present their final judgment and outcome on this issue, especially for the reason that the situation in the field of energy policy changes from day to day. However, the authors want to contribute to better understanding of this problem in terms of what can be expected in the future. This involves the measures necessary to achieve energy security, including independence from Russian gas. In addition, it can be assumed that after the introduction of Western sanctions against Russia, Putin manipulates and uses energy policy as his political weapon.
