Malaria is a serious problem of health worldwide, synthesis of drugs more effective to combat this disease is a high-priority task for the control of the disease; one of the most promising strategies is the modification of compounds with known or potential activity through the incorporation of a transition metal into its molecular structure, in order to avoid the resistance of parasites and increase biological activity. In this paper we present the latest studies on the synthesis of metal-chloroquine, in the process of developing new hemotherapeutic agents more effective against malaria and less toxic to the host, still the hemozoin the principal target of action.
