THE MAIN DIRECTIONS OF AGRO-INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX DEVELOPMENT OF THE BRICS COUNTRIES
Abstract
Background. The agro-industrial complex of the BRICS countries (Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa) is strategic industry today for any country development and ensuring food security. The relevance is due to requirements for cooperation development in agriculture field and agro-industrial complex of the BRICS countries in order to ensure countries cooperation for economic growth and strengthening their positions in the world market of agricultural products. The purpose of this study is to analyze state and main trends of agro-industrial complex development of the BRICS countries. Materials and methods. The implementation of research tasks was achieved on the basis of studying statistical data on gross agricultural production, individual indicators on agriculture, data on exports and imports of agricultural products in the BRICS countries. Research methodology is based on systematic approach. Results. The analysis of agriculture current state in the BRICS countries has been carried out, the shares of agro-industrial complex in countries’ GDP are highlighted, general characteristics of the BRICS countries’ agricultural, export and import of agricultural products in the countries are presented. Conclusions. For all the BRICS countries, agriculture is one of priority sectors. These countries are the largest importers and exporters of agricultural products. Overall food security of the BRICS countries shows upward trend in general and, according to forecasts, it will continue. The BRICS countries make significant contribution to global food security, which determines the further strengthening of developing cooperation between countries to improve productivity and sustainability of agricultural production.
