Risks of cardiovascular complications in mellitus diabetic patients

Aim: To stratify the risk of cardiovascular complications in diabetic patients registered in a Family Health Strategy in Primavera do Leste / Mato Grosso. Method: descriptive study of quantitative approach, of field and secondary analysis, conducted with diabetic patients registered in HIPERDIA program. Results: Fifty-two patients participated, with a female predominance of 40 patients (76.9 %), prevalence of age for both sexes between 50 and 60 years old. The prevalence of schooling was less than seven years of study for both sexes. Of the total sample, 48 patients had Type II diabetes (92.3%), 45 patients (86.5%) made use of oral hypoglycemic agents and 38 patients (73%) had associated hypertension. Both sexes maintained an inadequate diet. As for the perception of treatment, all considered important the control of the disease. Regarding the score, males had high risk for cardiovascular disease, while most women had intermediate risk. Conclusion: nutritional and health education are important in order to control the disease and reduce complications
