Cupilco y la Chontalpa tabasqueña. La construcción de un museo comunitario
Abstract
Cupilco is a village of Nahua origin in a Mayan region of the Chontalpa of Tabasco, in south-eastern Mexico. Its history represents an interesting observatory of the relationship between local and global, in a place suspended between a complex past protected by a strong nature of swamps and forests and the winds of modernization proceeding from the Gulf of Mexico. Here was born a peculiar experiment of community museum, which tries to unite the demands of a village experienced in processes of peaceful resilience and the contribution of the academic world and scientific research, in search of a balanced relationship between history and memory. The article presents, intertwining social, religious and cultural dimensions, the historical context in which the community and the museum project have been formed with their challenges and participatory spaces.
