The Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation for Earthquake Science(ACES)is one of the eight scientific and technological cooperation projects under the branch of Policy Partnership on Science,Technology and Innovation of APEC. The major participating economies are Australia,China,Japan,the United States,Canada,New Zealand,Chinese Taipei and Korea. Since the proposal was approved in 1997,the project has been running for more than 20 years,and has obtained a lot of scientific and technological achievements. This paper summarizes the origin,operation,cooperation form,cooperation fields,main cooperation achievements and future prospects of the ACES project.
