The agricultural cooperatives, option for integration of rural youth people to local development

The present work exposes the experiences of the Municipal University Center of Consolacion del Sur, in the actions with the youth of the cooperative sector, as part of the innovation project framed in the Program of Local Agricultural Innovation, in the thematic axis of Youth. It is recognized that the permanence of young people in rural areas is an international problem and on that basis in the municipality there are 37 % of the population in rural settlements and 63 % in urban areas, with a significant representation of young people, but the permanence of young people in the rural environment is a great concern, since it constitutes only 13 % of the labor force in the agricultural sector. The objective is to proposition a plan of actions that encourages the permanence of youth in the rural environment, through their integration into cooperatives of agricultural production in contribution to the satisfaction of their needs and the improvement of their quality of life. The results obtained highlight the analysis carried out of the role of agricultural cooperatives in the attention of rural youth in order to significance greater relevance through the execution of a plan of actions intended at consolidation the participation of young people in local development.
