Archaeological Evidence of Russian Civilization in the Cultures of the Indigenous Peoples of Western Siberia in the 16th –18th Centuries
Abstract
Significant changes took place after its incorporation into the Russian state in the culture of life support of the aboriginal population of Western Siberia in the 16th century. The achievements of Russian civilization have been perceived and adapted to their needs: more advanced economic subject complexes; new technologies and branches of the economy that have allowed improving the quality of life and creating a more comfortable living environment. These processes have been studied within specific territories and individual monuments (both settlement and burial) but have never been analyzed as a whole for the entire region. An attempt to consider the results of the impact of Russian civilization on the cultures of indigenous peoples is presented in the article. The main source was archaeological materials reflecting various spheres of life of the population, costume and household complexes, spiritual culture. Conclusions are drawn that, despite the positive impact of the acquired innovations, the aboriginal population has preserved the traditional household culture, although to varying degrees.
