NOTAS SOBRE LOS REVESTIMIENTOS MARMÓREOS PARIETALES DE LA «VILLA DEI QUINTILI» (ROMA, ITALIA) (Notes on the Marble Parietal Coverings from Villa dei Quintili, Rome, Italy)

Abstract

Este artículo da a conocer los «marmora» empleados en los revestimientos de carácter parietal que se encuentran en la «Villa dei Quintili» (Roma, Italia). Se presta especial atención a la preparación de las paredes y a la identificación macroscópica de los «marmora», constatando una gran variedad de revestimientos marmóreos parietales y de tipos lapídeos, así como la reutilización de rocas ornamentales en la preparación de las paredes. Los mármoles blancos grisáceos («greco scritto» y «bardiglio») son mayoritarios y se verificó el empleo de dos variedades de rocas decorativas hispanas. ENGLISH: This paper reports on the “marmora” used in the parietal wall coverings found at the Villa dei Quintili in Rome, Italy. Special attention is paid to the preparation of the walls and to the macroscopic identification of the “marmora”, noting a great variety of parietal marble coverings and lapidary types, as well as the reuse of ornamental rocks in the preparation of the walls. Greyish white marbles (“greco scritto” and “bardiglio”) are in the majority, and the use of two varieties of Hispanic decorative rocks was verified.
